The Peace From Healing and the Joy of Reflection
The Peace From Healing and the Joy of Reflection
Whenever our girls transition from the main campus (Phases I & II) to the apartments in town (Phase III), we ask them to give a speech to the other girls. We believe it is a powerful tool for the girls to take a moment, see how far they’ve come and share some advice. This is one of those speeches give recently.
“…but here I am today with a completely different perspective. Everything that I thought was ridiculous about this place changed me for the better. The things that I ran from the most were the things that shaped me into a better young woman than I was 6 months ago. The girls who irritated me to no end taught me more about myself than I ever thought I would learn. And my weirdo therapist has become one of the first men who I have ever trusted and loved me unconditionally, without ever wanting something in return.
It was not an easy 6 months. There were ups and downs, highs and lows. But today I can confidently tell you that I am happy, I am stable (some what) and I love myself and others. So my advice to you is this: stick with it, don’t give up on yourself and don’t give up on this process. Talk to staff, talk to your therapist, and talk to Kandace (she actually is pretty cool). Keep putting one foot in front of the other and before you know it, you’ll be moving to Phase III.
Love,

Leaving behind: Honesty, Anger”
